Doubleheader recap

These were a couple of meaningless games.

The Mets beat the Braves in Game 1 as Steve Trachsel shut down the Braves. Paul Byrd (8-6) pitched well only allowing 2 solo homers but the Braves lost 2-1.

The Braves rallied to beat the Mets in Game 2 by a score of 5-2. Jaret Wright was hit in the shin by a line drive, but dodged a bullet as x-rays are negative and only show a bad bruise. He's listed as day-to-day. Roman Colon (2-1) picked up the win even though he gave up a run. Johnny Estrada was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Adam LaRoche hit his 11th homer, and Marcus Giles hit his 8th homer.

The Braves play the Mets in the rubber game of the series at 1 o'clock, then have the day off Thursday before traveling to Chicago.

The Cubs are still fighting to get into the playoffs, and the Braves want to keep them out because of last year and because of the Cubs pitching being strong, so the Braves will probably have the everyday players in. This could be a first round preview, and both teams might go straight to Atlanta after this series to start the playoffs.
