While I was away

The Braves swept the Marlins, clinched the division for the 13th year in a row, and eliminated the Marlins from playoff contention.

Mike Hampton returned from his knee injury without much pain and pitched 7 scoreless innings in his start. Hampton got his 12th win and lowered his ERA to 4.38.

Mark DeRosa tore up his knee and will be out for at least the rest of this season.

Horacio Ramirez came off the DL, made a relief appearance struggling through one inning allowing a run.

John Thomson picked up his 14th win with another strong start and lowered his ERA to 3.73.

Chipper Jones has 95 RBI with 6 games left to get to 100 RBI for the umpteenth consecutive season.
